Forty-fourth U.S. president Barack Obama will feature as the keynote speaker at the global Greenbuild International Conference and Expo 2019, the largest annual event of its kind for the green building and sustainability industry sector, held November 19-22 at the LEED Gold-designated Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA.

Greenbuild 2019 features four days of educational sessions, green building tours, keynote events, and networking, as well as a 300-plus exhibitor Expo floor. The event offers the most comprehensive opportunity of this kind for industry professionals of various stages to source and gain knowledge of trailblazing solutions for sustainability, resilience and quality of life in buildings, communities, and beyond.

Greenbuild is owned and operated by Informa Connect, a division of Informa, and presented by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), which is committed to a green building market transformation.

The event draws a diverse meeting of green building advocates, allowing opportunities for collaboration among educators, commercial and residential professionals, students, engineers, government agency representatives, architects and more.

“USGBC is deeply honored that President Obama has accepted our invitation to speak at Greenbuild 2019,” said Mahesh Ramanujam, president and CEO of USGBC, in a press statement.

“President Obama is a global leader and a long-time friend of the green building community. While in office, his administration negotiated the landmark Paris Climate Accords, expanded the impact of our field and helped open the door for energy efficiency investments in both the public and private sectors. I know that when he joins us on the keynote stage in November, he will impart his ideas, passion and vision to our growing global green building family,” said Ramanujam.

Along with Barack Obama Greenbuild 2019 will feature keynote speaker youth climate change activist Jamie Margolin and another keynote speaker who will be announced soon. Past speakers have included 42nd U.S. president Bill Clinton, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, architect Bjarke Ingles, and 67th U.S. secretary of state Hillary Clinton, among others.
