Brooklyn-based manufacturer IceStone LLC has long been a major player in manufacturing sustainable and highly durable surfacing, and this past month they managed to push the envelope even further. They refined their eponymous product, which is typically fashioned into countertops, backsplashes, and bathroom vanities, making it more durable than ever before. Additionally, innovations in the recycling process have reduced IceStone’s carbon footprint by 21 pounds.
IceStone is now even more resistant to etching, staining, and heating than ever before, beating out many stone-based alternative surfaces. The new IceStone does not require yearly resealing and is now UV-resistant, making it safe for outdoor use. IceStone LLC has released a short demonstration of the new features.
The benefits do not end there, however; IceStone provides credits toward LEED certification, is NSF certified, and also Cradle to Cradle Silver certified, a distinction only granted to 20 companies today. Notably, IceStone is the only manufacturer of durable surfaces to hold that title. Orders for the product can be made here.
