The 2019 Conservation in Action Tour to Raise Awareness about Conservation

The 2019 Conservation in Action Tour is August 20th-21st, 2019 in Des Moines, Ia. This will be the 12th annual tour, examining various conservation techniques from edge-of-field systems, in-field solutions, and management practices. Conservation at the leading edge is the theme for this year’s meeting. Farmers in Iowa are considered leaders of conservation practices in agriculture. As concerns rise about soil health and its ability to curb climate change, events like these are highly important.

The tour makes stops to 4 different farms, each implementing different conservation methods. This gives attendees a much closer view of sustainable practices and how they are implemented. Attendees will include farmers as well as other industry professionals with the goal of developing their knowledge about the changing industry.

The Conservation Technology Information Center (CTIC) raises awareness for economically and environmentally friendly agriculture systems. The company mission is to provide information and lead projects around sustainable practices that conserve water, soil, air, and wildlife. The Organization is supported by the EPA and USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. The CTIC collects data on conservation practices about tillage and a crop management survey which measures the adoption of soil saving practices.
